In The Vanguard is yet to be seen at the races this season but remains an outright $4 favourite in 2016 Thoroughbred Club Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au, ahead of Prompt Response and Stop Making Sense; currently sharing the second line at $8 quotes.

Will In The Vanguard justify favouritism and win the 2016 Thoroughbred Club Stakes, or will one of her talented rivals post an upset?

Modern Wonder ($9.50)

Modern Wonder has posted several commendable results through a short but impressive racing career so far and is over the 2016 Thoroughbred Club Stakes odds after her current $9.50 quote for success. Debuting to racing for a comfortable win in the Listed Dequetteville Stakes (1050m) on April 23rd, the Snitzel filly failed to fire in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) first-up this time but responded with a strong second amongst classy company in the Alfred Foundation Plate (1100m) last time out on September 17th.

Prompt Response ($7.50)

Prompt Response has been a strong and consistent performer for Gai Waterhouse throughout her entire career so far, and has reportedly taken plenty of benefit from her first-up run for fourth in the Group 3 Scarborough Stakes (1200m) on September 23rd. Resuming this year for fourth in the Group 2 Magic Night Stakes (1200m), the daughter of Beneteau placed second in the Group 3 Percy Stakes Stakes (1200m) during The Championships and ended her two-year-old tenure with a strong win in the Prosperity Advisors Group Maiden (1200m) on April 21st.

Angharad ($16)

Godolphin filly Angharad has trialled well in the lead up to the 2016 Thoroughbred Club Stakes and is drawn ideally for a strong run from barrier 3, with James McDonald in the saddle. Resuming this year for a pair of wins in the Complete Roofing Warehouse Maiden (1200m) and Anthony’s Kitchen & Bar Handicap (1350m), the daughter of Exceed And Excel failed to produce much in the late stages of the Blakes Marine Claret Stakes (1300m) on April 30th and was returned to the paddock.
